It's going to be a busy spring! Here's the round-up of quilting events that we know about:
The Piecemaker's Guild will be having their Strawberry Tea and Quilt Show on April 22, from 10am to 3pm at Holy Nativity Church - 12707 Bonaventure Drive S.E.
The Sheep Creek Weavers is having a Fibre Stash Sale in the Ranchers Hall at the Millarville Race Track from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday April 29, 2023.
The Ujamaa Grandma's Fabric and Yarn Sale has moved to the Garrison Curling Club:
If you are destashing - Drop off will be Saturday, April 29, from noon to 4:00 PM, Tuesday, May 2 and Wednesday May 3 from 10:00 Am to 4:00 PM
If you are purchasing - Sale dates Friday, May 5 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, May 6 and Sunday May 7 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Evenbrite Tickets will be required for Friday May 5. Ticket launch time is Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 12:00 am (Midnight)
The Gathering Threads Festival (Edmonton) will be held May 5-7th. This festival has rebranded from the Edmonton Fibre Frolic, and will be at the Edmonton Expo Centre.
Central Alberta Quilt Show - is back May 12 - 13 in Red Deer at the Westerner Park. Featured quilters are Cheryl Whitten and Anne Chong. Workshop by John MacPhail.
Heritage Park Festival of Quilts - Returns May 27th and 28th. The themed exhibitions this year are "Orange and White" and "Trees". Brandi Maslowski (Quilter on Fire) will be presenting two workshops and a trunk show lecture on the Friday evening, and featured quilter is guild member Karin King. The Festival of Quilts Committee is looking for both committee members and show volunteers. If you missed the spring newsletter, you can access it here
The Edmonton and District Quilt Guild will be holding their quilt show June 3-4th at the Central Lions Recreation Centre (11113 - 113 Street, Edmonton). Over 200 quilts will be on display.
The Quilted Mouse Guild will be hosting their spring show June 6th at Canyon Meadows Centre (North Building) from 11am to 3 pm
The Battle River Quilt Guild will be holding their Quilted Treasures show at Chuck MacLean Arts Centre (4809 52 Street, Camrose, AB) on June 23 & 24th.
Calgary Stampede Creative Arts & Crafts - Entries for the 2023 Creative Arts & Crafts Competition are open! New quilt categories this year include classes for entrant designed-quilts (which includes improv, minimalist design, and other modern defining features) and a collaboration class for quilts worked on by two or more entrants. Deadline is June 19th to enter.
