December Swap 2022

The December swap is a guild tradition, but we are announcing it a month early to give you a bit more time. Even better if you decide to make these for all your family and friends!

Who doesn’t love a new notebook to jot down thoughts when inspiration strikes? And, a quilty covered composition book is even better! That’s why we’re swapping them (blind swap style) at our December meeting.

Tutorials:

Maureen Cracknell posted a reel showcasing a tutorial she did for Janome. It's the one I used for this sample. Here is the full tutorial link.

Here is another from Purple Catz Quilting

Even more ideas and links. Pinterest board.

This is a great opportunity to push beyond our own self-imposed boundaries. If you're just starting out in this world of quilting, the book cover, plain and simple, where the fabric does the talking, might be your push. If you've been at this awhile, perhaps you will add an epic paper pieced front, some hexies, or even a pocket! You could make your quilt sandwich with a favourite orphan block, or a great new piece of improv. Feel free to play. Remember, we are giving you an extra month!

Fabrics:

Fabric choices are up to you, but modern is the name of the game!

  • Have a second look at anything older or novelty/themed to make sure it fits with a modern make.

  • Quilt store quality fabric.

  • Please no Christmas theme.

Composition Books.

9 3/4 x 7 1/2 in. 180 page.

Dollarama is a great source, and they have more pages than many - $1.50 each.

Notebook covers should contain a composition notebook and be placed in a closed paper sack for a blind swap. Don't forget to pop something inside so your recipient knows who it's from.No extra goodies

As you’re working, please post pictures of your work on social media using these

The swap is blind, but it doesn't mean we can't see what coming down the pipe!
