Let's Make a Coin Quilt!

This month's Block for Good is a great way to dig into your scrap bin, jelly roll strips, and leftover binding pieces. Pick any two colors that make you happy and get sewing!

Blocks will be collected in October, November, December, and January. The next new Block for Good pattern starts in January 2027.

This design is inspired by two beautiful coin quilts:

And you can find a full tutorial for the block construction here: My Coin Quilt Recipe

Our cut size is 2 1/2" x 3 1/2", so here's how it comes together:

  1. Sew two 2 1/2" strips together lengthwise, and press.

  2. Cut the sewn strip into 3 1/2" lengths.

  3. Flip each piece on its side and sew alternating colors together, then press.

  1. Sew two of these strips together, matching seams, to build your length.

Make your strip pairs any length you like, with a minimum of 8 patches (4 of each color) per strip. Feel free to add more strip pairs to make it longer, longer strips actually make life easier for the member putting the top together, so don't be shy!
